get out the vote explanation motion graphic...

longest title ever... anyways... Get Out the Vote Explanation is a descriptive visual EXPERIENCE, rather than just a visual representation of a statistic it is literally a process of understanding the information from a collection of movements sounds and their interactions in a span of time. The resulting project will be a visual experiment and a testament to the ability of the human brain to synthesize an abstract thought through the emplimentation of concrete graphics in a horizontally planar world of sounds and motions. As a designer its important to empathize with a variety of viewpoints in order to understand how the audience will understand the portrayed meaning of a created visual message and employ the uses of cultural signifyers to capture a message the cant usually be described in strictly visual terms. Declare Yourself This is definitely a youth geared site with a hipper angle on information and the ability to modernize and “sexify” the topic of politics and voting. Its graphic nature and a very punk rocker vibe gives it a youth culture angle and appeals to the idea of giving a voice to each voter. The site is patriotic of course with its red white and blue scheme but it is also very clean and contemporary. Broken down into six clear categories that would probably appeal to or more clearly help a younger voter, the information that is presented is relatively basic and would assist someone to register to vote, identify the key issues during this election, and list some basic stands the two opposing contenders make. Theres alot of visual stimulation on this site and plenty of side links to websites that are very obviously created for youth, ie American Eagle Apparel Ads, and youth culture, especially the music scene, both warped tour and MTV have sponsorship ads. Theres also an emblem on the bottom of the page for UWIRE, that offers a student created campaign coverage. Rock the Vote Similar to the Declare Yourself website, Rock the Vote is punkrocker in appearance, edgy and independent. It definitely more unbiased and bipartisan, choosing to focus more on why and how to vote than on the the candidates. Music is also a HUGE part of this site, with links to music videos and artists who support the cause plus photos of supporters, all of whom seem to be in a very young demographic. The graphics alone scream youth culture and provides a definitive identity to the material. Generation Engage On first look this site appears to be geared toward an older, maybe middle age, crowd, but upon closer inspection its just a poor try at trying to appeal to youth voters. It looks alot like CNN with the typical newpaper shots and text heavy explanations. The layout is static and blocky. But the content is decent enough, although their push to join GenGage is a bit overwhelming.Pretty good text though if you stop to bother to read it. Citizen Joe This is a very intriguing site whos main spin is getting past the issues of party lines and supporting a serious and widespread discourse on the issues and possible solutions to our national dilemma. It seems like its a pretty legitimate site their running with a variety of volunteers from both sides. The site steers clear of any falshy-ness and is clear, precise and straightforward, and easy to naviagate through. Although the published articles contain a fair amount of facts with definitive sourcing, most of the site alot of just talking amongst people, and thus the facts might not all be definitive but there was certainly a lot of interesting conversations that sparked my interest and kept me researching for documentable facts on the topics being discussed. America.gov This site, run by the government is a pretty shallow representation of the real issues because of how cloistered it seems to keep facts, focusing rather on the larger ‘feel good’ media honed stories rather than nitty gritty facts or citizen opinions. But that could just be my libertarian nature talking. Its pretty simple and easy to use but boring and beaureacratic looking. Im sure alot of it is sensored in content, or atleast judging my the few blog posts it seems to be al ot of mellow-minded writers. There are some very concrete facts listed but they’re fairy wide known or just widely accepted notions on the numbers... A little vanilla but links to much better sites were available.

with a very long explanation!
when you talk about sites add the links otherwise -- nicely done.
